Heritage
Molteni&C was born in Giussano in 1934, in the heart of Italy's furniture district, as the artisan workshop of Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni. By 1947 it had grown into a factory employing more than 60 craftspeople. In 1955 a Molteni&C chest of drawers by Swiss architect Werner Blaser won first prize at the inaugural Mostra Selettiva International Furniture Competition in Cantù.

Philosophy
The company sums up its approach as "a magnificent obsession for quality — every day and in every detail" (Carlo Molteni, President & CEO of the Molteni Group). In 1968 a young Luca Meda led the shift of the entire production from classic to modern designs suitable for mass production, which has defined the company's identity ever since.
Iconic Works
Collaborations with Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Aldo Rossi, Jean Nouvel and Patricia Urquiola mark its history, alongside Luca Meda's Capotavola table and Tobia Scarpa's Monk chair. In 2010 Molteni&C inaugurated the Heritage Collection through an exclusive agreement with the Gio Ponti Archives, reissuing pieces such as the D.154.2 armchair. In 1994 the company received the Compasso d'Oro for its career.
