Overview
Teso is a sculptural coffee table designed by Foster + Partners. Molteni&C describes its architectural silhouette as a reinterpretation of the traditional occasional table, with the structure itself becoming the visual focus.
Construction
The base begins as a perforated steel disc. An industrial robotic arm twists the disc into a tapered cylindrical form, a process that gives the frame its distinctive character while providing resistance and stability. The top is made from transparent extra-light glass, exposing the geometry of the steel base from every angle.
Specifications
The TTA1 drawing identifies a circular table with a diameter of 118 cm and an overall height of 31 cm.
Story
An architectural table
Teso was designed by Foster + Partners as an exploration of form, industrial production and material expression. The product page presents the table as a sculptural centrepiece: its tapered, perforated steel base turns a manufacturing operation into the defining visual element.
From disc to volume
A robotic arm twists a perforated steel disc until it becomes the cylindrical base. A transparent extra-light glass top completes the composition, allowing the engineered structure to remain visible and creating a deliberate balance between a light surface and a solid frame.
