Brand Story
Heritage
Edra made its debut on the evening of 11 July 1987 at the Marconi Gallery in Milan, presenting four seats — No Stop, No Step, No Stalgia and No Problem — by four young authors selected from Milan's Domus Academy. The choice set its course: give voice to original ideas rather than big names. A Zaha Hadid collection followed a year later, the Tatlin sofa by Mario Cananzi and Roberto Semprini appeared in 1989, and the Flowers Collection by Masanori Umeda soon after. The company is based in Perignano, near Pisa, in Tuscany.
Philosophy
Edra defines its work as "the greatest comfort, elegance and performance". It treats comfort as a pleasure involving all the senses, invents its own materials and fabrics, and combines manual skills with advanced techniques from concept to prototype to final product. Patented technologies such as Gellyfoam® and the Smart Cushion come from this research.

Iconic Works
Francesco Binfaré's L'Homme et La Femme (1993), Angels (1996), Flap (2000), On the Rocks and Standard sofas; Masanori Umeda's Getsuen and Rose Chair; the Tatlin sofa; and pieces by Fernando and Humberto Campana and Jacopo Foggini.

Today
Edra sells through Authorized Edra Dealers worldwide, offers a Professionals area for dealers, architects, press and students, and presents its pieces in architectural projects around the world.
