Overview
The LC1 UAM Armchair (Cassina's 1 Fauteuil dossier basculant, UAM) is an armchair inspired by colonial furniture, with a chrome-plated steel structure and a self-supporting leather-trimmed fabric that forms the seat, backrest and armrests. The armrests widen slightly at the front and taper at the back.
Construction
Its steel-tube frame has a polished chrome finish. The upholstery is an ecru self-supporting fabric with natural leather trim, and the armrests use the same self-supporting ecru fabric with natural leather trim.

Story
The UAM version of the tilting-back armchair
Cassina's page describes this version of the Fauteuil à dossier basculant as the one that debuted at the first exhibition of the French Union of Modern Artists in 1930. It showed how the furniture, displayed the year before at the Salon d'Automne, could be produced with a greater variety of upholstery options.
A design inspired by colonial furniture
The page, headed Design Evolution, describes an armchair inspired by colonial furniture. Its seat, backrest and armrests are formed by one self-supporting fabric with leather trim, carried by a chrome-plated tubular steel structure.
