Story
Designed in 1958 for the Sèvres atelier
According to Cassina's product sheet, Le Corbusier designed the table in 1958 for his atelier at 35 rue de Sèvres, in an organic and at the same time rational design. Its construction derives from two geometric figures, the circle of the table top and the cube-like base of steel tubes at right angles to each other.
Opposing geometries
The page presents the table as Le Corbusier's answer to furnishing homes and corporate offices: a form that is at once organic and rational, sleek and dynamic. The sheet adds that it can serve as a conference table, seating up to ten.
