Story
The Time-Life chair
Herman Miller's design-story page says Henry Luce, chair of Time-Life, asked the Eames design team for a chair for his new building a year after the 1959 Moscow exhibition, and that the Eameses responded with the chair Herman Miller has produced since 1960.

Making headlines
The page recalls that in 1972 Bobby Fischer included the chair among his demands for the world championship match in Iceland, and that Boris Spassky then asked for one too.
