Description
Overview
Eames Tables are a system of bases and tops from the Eames office, worked out between 1957 and 1964 and made for occasional, low conference, conference and standing-height use.
Construction
Universal, contract and segmented bases, plus a T-Leg base, carry laminate, veneer, HPL, glass, solid wood or stone tops; the tables ship knocked down with adjustable glides.
Specifications
The rectangular segmented base table measures 72 by 36 in with a height of 28.5 in; tops run from 30 to 264 in and heights from 16 to 42 in.
Story
A universal solution
The design story describes a system of tables that the Eames office developed from 1957 to 1964 for the needs of daily living. Its bases were meant to take tops of various sizes and materials, and Herman Miller calls the result a universal solution for dining and working, meeting and living.
One base, many tops
The contract base was, according to the product sheet, the original base design created by the Eameses for the J. Irwin Miller house, and the segmented base covers the broadest range of uses, from large dining tables to long conference tables.
