Description

Overview

Designed in 2012 by Piero Lissoni, Rod is a Living Divani armchair that the maker singles out for fine tailoring and attention to detail, thanks to its quilting and buttons.

Construction

The supporting structure is lacquered drawn tubular steel, with a suspension of cross-woven coated rubber elastic straps and polyurethane foam. The backrest and armrest structure is a self-supporting decorative layered HPL panel. Backrest and seat cushions are filled with pre-washed, sterilized goose down stitched into separate compartments around a polyurethane foam insert, and the seat cushions are quilted with buttons in sight or, on request, without buttons. Feet are AISI 304 stainless steel or painted steel, screwed to the base with a bushing and ending in adjustable plastic tips.

Specifications

The technical drawing gives 100, 86 and 70 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing), with 64, 38, 18 and 14 cm marked on other views. The sheet gives a seat depth of 60-80 cm across the Rod range.

Story

Tailoring at armchair scale

The technical sheet covers Rod and Rod XL together, listing sofa, armchair and bench forms. Armrest cushions are goose down stitched into compartments over a poplar plywood panel joined to the frame with plug-in hinges, and the upholstery comes off with zippers and Velcro fastenings.

Buttons and feet

Buttons come in light and dark variants and by default match the chosen cover; contrasting buttons can be specified on order. Standard feet are tubular stainless steel of 1.5 cm diameter, with 2.2 cm on request. Rod and Rod XL passed static load, stress resistance and fall tests under EN 1728/00, certified by CATAS.
