Heritage Chaise Longue
D.150.5 is a Gio Ponti outdoor chaise longue, originally designed in 1952 for the Andrea Doria and reconstructed by Molteni&C with the Gio Ponti Archives and Ponti's heirs.
Construction
A continuous teak side joins the backrest, seat, armrest and footrest. The natural-finish structure has plastic feet; shaped polyurethane cushioning is covered in water-repellent polyester fibre. The sheet also lists a separate 100% polyester waterproof cover.
D.150.5 Dimensions
Largest drawing values, not labelled with axes: 75, 134 and 95 cm.
Story
Designed for Andrea Doria
Molteni&C dates the original design to 1952 and connects it to the ocean liner Andrea Doria. Ponti conceived one of his uncommon outdoor furnishings as an adaptable piece, and the manufacturer now reconstructs it through archival collaboration.
Heritage Collection
The official sheet explicitly labels D.150.5 as part of the Heritage Collection. Its solid-teak form and current outdoor cushion specification bring the archived design back into production while preserving the original year as a faithful reissue.
