Overview
The Crate Dining Table is an outdoor table with a rectangular tabletop and diagonal crossbars. Gerrit Rietveld designed the Crate series, and HAY brought it back in a collaboration with Rietveld Originals. Made with respect for that original design, the table has the series' balanced proportions and its transparent build.
Construction
- Material: solid pine with a water-based lacquer
- Delivery: knock-down; the tabletop and the legs arrive as pre-assembled sections

Story
The table of the crate series
Surplus wooden shipping crates lay behind the Crate series that Gerrit Rietveld created. The dining table belongs to the reissue by Rietveld Originals and HAY, which stays close to the original design.
A rectangular top and crossbars
The table pairs a rectangular tabletop with diagonal crossbars. Simple and spatial, it carries Rietveld's architectural principles into furniture that provides function without absorbing space.
