Overview
The Capitol Complex Armchair is an upholstered armchair on a solid wood frame with V-shaped supports, from Cassina's Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret range. Cassina says the design was made for Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex building in Chandigarh and is its reinterpretation as a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret.
Construction
- Frame: Burma teak or solid oak.
- Padding: polyurethane foam of varying density, with padding around the armrests and generous seat and backrest cushions.
- Covering: fabric or leather.
- Feet: black plastic glides.

Story
Armchairs of the Capitol Complex rooms
Cassina's sheet says the rooms of the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh were filled with overstuffed armchairs that all shared the same V support structure theme. This armchair carries that scheme forward: the only exposed wooden parts are the rests, the connecting crossbars and the external joints between the arms and the backrest.
Armrests wrapped in padding
The padding almost completely envelops the armrests and draws a rounded, geometric outline. With the separate seat and back cushions it conveys, in Cassina's words, an immediate sense of comfort without abandoning elegance and simplicity.
