Description
Overview
Vitra calls the Aluminium Chairs EA 105-108 by Charles and Ray Eames the quintessential solution for meeting venues. Their sling seat is a panel of leather, fabric or mesh stretched between two aluminium ribs. The EA 105 has no armrests, the EA 107 has armrests, and both stand on a fixed base; the EA 108 has armrests and a swivel mechanism.

Construction
The page lists a medium-high backrest, a seat in mesh fabric or in welded, ribbed upholstery of fabric or leather, and cast aluminium parts: profiles, spreaders, base and armrests, polished, chromed or powder-coated.
Specifications
The EA 108 shown by default is 580 mm wide, 590 mm deep and 830 mm high, and the EA 107 drawing has the same figures. The EA 105, which has no armrests, is drawn with a 525 mm front view at the same depth and height.
Story
Meeting rooms
Vitra and the factbook both describe the Aluminium Chairs as the quintessential solution for meeting venues, in offices, conference spaces and meeting rooms around the globe, and the factbook adds that Charles and Ray Eames did not set out with this explicit goal.
A sling seat
The seat is a panel of leather, fabric or mesh stretched between two aluminium ribs; Vitra credits this, with the generous proportions, for the chairs' comfort.
