Brand Story

Heritage

Magis was founded in 1976 by the entrepreneur Eugenio Perazza in Motta di Livenza, then a small agricultural town in the Veneto region of northern Italy. It began as a family-run business with a clear and ambitious idea: to promote large-scale industrial production through continuous experimentation with new languages, technologies and materials. Early collaborations with Andries Van Onck and Marc Berthier marked a turning point, and in 1996 Barbara Minetto and Alberto Perazza joined the company. Since 2010 Magis has been based in Torre di Mosto, in a site of over 98,000 square metres for logistics, assembly, offices and a large showroom.

Philosophy

Magis is a Latin word meaning "more", and the company presents its drive to experiment as a wish to be more and do more and to go beyond the boundaries of design. It has always backed emerging talent, and many of those designers are now established names. Magis pays close attention to materials, technologies and production processes, which vary from project to project, and describes its output as eclectic, versatile design rooted in the standards of Made in Italy.

Iconic Works

Magis's own history highlights Jasper Morrison's stackable Bottle rack (1994), Stefano Giovannoni's height-adjustable Bombo stool, Morrison's Air-Chair moulded in polypropylene with air-moulding technology, and Konstantin Grcic's Chair_One (2003) in die-cast aluminium. In 2004 the Me Too collection for children followed, including Eero Aarnio's Puppy. Compasso d'Oro awards went to Trioli (2008), Steelwood Chair (2011), Spun (2014), Plato (2022) and Costume (2024), with a Lifetime Achievement award to Eugenio Perazza in 2020.
