Description
Overview
Tokyo Chaise Longue is a chaise longue by Charlotte Perriand. The page calls it a piece of design history with a sinuous, welcoming, organic shape, originally made from bamboo, and the sheet dates the design to 1940.
Construction
The page lists a structure of curved strips and junction elements in satin brass. The sheet gives a structure in solid and layered bamboo or teak with a matt transparent finish, a base in solid bamboo or teak, black plastic feet, a mattress padded with draining polyurethane and a headrest cushion with natural, organic, anallergic and absorbent holed-fibre padding.

Story
Designed, not realised, in 1940
The page and sheet say Perriand designed the chair in 1940 during her time in Tokyo, but did not realise it. It uses bamboo to revisit her famous 4 Chaise longue à réglage continu, and the sheet notes the model as adapted from the 1928 metal model.
Re-issued in teak as well
According to the page, the organic form, curvy and inviting, has been re-issued and is now offered in teak as well as in bamboo. The seat of the recliner is made of twelve curved strips of wood and the joining elements are satin-finish brass studs.
