Description
Overview
Cicognino is a small table by Franco Albini, named "little stork" on the Cassina page. It has three slender legs, a top 40 cm in diameter and a wooden trim that makes the top reminiscent of a tray. One of the legs extends higher than the others and ends as a handle for moving the table about.
Construction
The page lists the top as a phenolic plywood panel with a solid ash edge, the edge in solid ash or walnut with ash or walnut veneer, and the frame in solid ash or walnut. Four finishes are offered: Canaletto walnut, natural ash, ash stained amaranth and ash stained black.

Story
A frame reduced to its essentials
According to the Cassina page, Albini designed the table by reducing the frame to its essentials: three slender legs, a round top and a wooden trim. The page says the top serves as a link between the other parts and augments the overall sense of balance and stability.
The little stork
The page and sheet say the name means "little stork", and the page describes a playful shape reminiscent of a small stork. The page gives 1958 as the year Albini designed it, while the sheet's Designed by line reads 1953 and its Produced line "Cassina, 2008".
