Description
Overview
The Soft Pad Chairs EA 205, 207 and 208 are the conference models of the Eames Soft Pad Group. Vitra calls them an ideal choice for prestigious meeting and conference spaces; the EA 208 is the swivel chair with armrests, the EA 207 has armrests on a fixed base and the EA 205 has none.

Construction
Three cushions sewn on, with polyurethane foam padding, are held by die-cast aluminium side profiles and spreaders; the armrests and the star-shaped foot are die-cast aluminium too, and the foot is offered in two heights.
Specifications
580 mm wide, 590 mm deep and 810 mm high (EA 208, new height). Textile covers Laser RE, Cosy 2 and Track, or leather covers, Leather and Leather Premium F, whose back panel is Plano. Metal parts: chrome, polished aluminium or textured powder coat.
Story
For meeting rooms
Vitra's page presents the EA 205, 207 and 208 as chairs for meeting and conference spaces and dates them to 1969. The fact book says the Aluminium and Soft Pad Chairs have become the quintessential solution for meeting venues, even though the Eameses did not set out with that purpose.

From feathers to foam
Soft Pad cushions were first filled with down feathers; Vitra later changed to foam and in 2015 added a seat height two centimetres lower than the classic one.
