Description

Overview

The Kashima Large settee is a three-place sofa by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset. The model is described as the "comfortable Chesterfield" and comes in a choice of 26 materials.

Construction

The structure is entirely foam, in two densities of polyether (21 kg/m³ at 3.2 kPa and 28 kg/m³ at 4.8 kPa), clad in 480 g/m² polyester quilting. Seat and backrest use high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam, clad in hyper soft foam. Seams and buttoning have twin-needle overstitching, and the cover in 480 g/m² polyester quilting can be removed by an upholsterer.

Specifications

Overall size: 2,350 x 1,000 x 750 mm (W x D x H). Weight 43 kg; seat height 380 mm; seats 3 places.

Story

An all-foam seat with rounded lines

Kashima gives a reassuring image through generous shapes, and its all-foam seat hides a soft comfort in rounded and curved lines with integrated armrests, lumbar and headrest. Foam density is the guarantee of longevity: the denser the foam, the longer the seat lasts.

Buttoning and quilted cover

The buttoning is made with invisible tie rods placed inside the foam. The fully quilted cover forms "pinched" seams at the corners, reinforced by interior laces, and the nest shape of the seat lets the user sit down wedged at the sides. Ligne Roset reissued the Kashima model in 2023.
