Description

Overview

The Kashima Composition is the modular settee of the Kashima model. Michel Ducaroy designed Kashima, the "comfortable Chesterfield". The piece is covered in a choice of 26 materials and measures H 750 mm.

Construction

Foam makes up the whole structure: polyether at 21 kg/m³ (3.2 kPa) combined with polyether at 28 kg/m³ (4.8 kPa). Seat and backrest are built alike from Bultex high resilience polyurethane foam, in 36 kg/m³ (3.6 kPa) and 26 kg/m³ (1.4 kPa) grades, under a hyper soft layer of 45 kg/m³ (1.8 kPa). The 480 g/m² polyester quilting forms its cover; every seam and the buttoning are overstitched with twin needles, and an upholsterer is able to take the cover off.

Specifications

Overall height: H 750 mm.

Story

A reissued, reassuring all-foam seat

Kashima, the "comfortable Chesterfield", is an emblematic model that came back in 2023. Michel Ducaroy gave classic customers "English" comfort: generous forms lend the all-foam seat a reassuring look, and the softness lives in rounded, curved lines plus integrated armrests, lumbar and headrest.

Buttoning, corner seams and seat shape

Tie rods hidden inside the foam do the buttoning. Quilting covers the whole piece, with "pinched" corner seams held by interior laces, a touch of fantasy within the classic shapes. Thanks to the nest shape of the seat, users sit down wedged at the sides.
