Ile Club Sofa

Overview

Ile Club is a sofa by Piero Lissoni, designed in 2007 for Living Divani. It is deep and soft, with a skeleton of minimum thickness carrying a voluminous top.

Construction

The elements have armrests and backrests built from poplar and fir honeycomb panel. The seat chassis is lacquered steel and carries a suspension made of rubber-coated elastic straps woven crosswise. The frame is padded in Visco-Soft and differentiated-density polyurethane foam, covered with a mat of pre-washed, sterilised goose down stitched into separate compartments, or with acrylic fibres. Seat cushions use differentiated-density polyurethane foam and Visco-Soft with the same two cover options, over an under-seat panel of thermobonded rigid polyester wadding. The base is AISI 304 stainless steel in matt satin, or lacquered steel in Gunmetal Grey or a burnished colour. Fabric or leather covers come off completely, closed with zippers and Velcro.

A nest on a slim base

Ile Club looks a bit like a nest: deep and soft, resting on the open hand of a branch. The skeleton is reduced to a minimum thickness and carries the top lightly, so the upper part reads as voluminous, welcoming and visually more striking.

Elements and quilted seats

The line is drawn as sofas, terminal elements with an arm, central elements without arms, benches, footrests and two loose cushion sizes. Quilted seat cushions are available on request: removable with fabric upholstery, and with central stitching in the leather version.
