Biography

Background

Rodolfo Dordoni was a Milanese architect and designer, described by Minotti as a rationalist architect and a professional with a multi-faceted personality and a sensitivity as an interior decorator. He met Renato and Roberto Minotti towards the end of the 1990s, and together they set out to create a new vision of the company.

Signature Style

His work for Minotti is marked by pure volumes, sharp geometries and a haute couture approach to sartorial craftsmanship: stitched leather strips, down-filled cushions, bronze-toned metal bases and long, low seating systems that read as calm architecture in a room.

Notable Works

  • Suitcase armchair (1997), inspired by fashion and luggage-making
  • Freeman, Connery and Aston seating for Minotti
  • Dylan, Goodman and Twiggy seating systems
  • Minotti New York flagship (2010) and the Meda company showroom (2012)

Legacy

Art Director and coordinator of all Minotti collections from 1998, Dordoni shaped the brand's classic-modern identity for more than twenty years. The collaboration began in 1997 and ended with his untimely passing in 2023.
