Background

OEO Studio is a multidisciplinary design studio in Copenhagen, founded in 2003 by Thomas Lykke and Anne-Marie Buemann, with a project office in Tokyo. GUBI says Lykke (born 1971) trained as a fashion designer in Copenhagen and San Francisco and was Interiors Editor at Wallpaper* magazine from 2000 to 2003 before founding the studio.

Signature Style

The studio works across architecture and interiors, product design and brand design. Its approach, which it calls Compelling Minimalism, joins Danish heritage with an Asian aesthetic and is built on research, rich materials and textures, restraint and attention to detail.

Notable Works

  • The Kouryu Chair for Time & Style and the Centurio Lamp for MycoWorks
  • The Coco chairs and Carmel tables for GUBI
  • The book Compelling Minimalism, published by Rizzoli

Legacy

OEO Studio was named Designer of the Year at the Danish Design Awards in 2021 and has won German Design Awards, Monocle and Iconic Awards, among others.
