Collection Story
Origin
Gogan is a Moroso collection by Patricia Urquiola, named after the stones set along Japanese river and lake banks to shield and adorn them. Applied to seating, the name points to harmony between pieces, which comes from forms that are not too regular and from how the pieces join and sit together.
Design Language
The sofa and the armchair bring to mind flat stones carved by wind and water, firm yet smooth. Seats are soft and uneven and lean slightly to the back, which allows a lower backrest. Abutments tie backrest to seat so the sofa looks as if it floats. The coffee tables share the sofa's structural reinforcements.
Key Pieces
An armchair, a 2-seater sofa, a 3-seater sofa, sofa compositions and coffee tables of several sizes with a glass or marble top on an ash wood base.
