Description
Overview
The Wire Stool High is the tall stool on the Eames wire shell: the same bent steel wire seat, here set on a four-legged base with a footrest. Vitra offers two heights of this base; high is for standing-height tables, whereas the medium one fits ordinary kitchen counters. The finish is chrome or black powder coat, and Vitra dates the design 1951.

Construction
The shell is steel wire, bent and welded, chrome-plated or powder-coated. Below sits a tubular steel base with the same two finish options, and it cannot be stacked. On the powder-coated base the footrest may show wear from its anti-slip coating. The stool is offered bare, with a seat cushion or with the two-piece pad.
Specifications
Base 555 mm wide by 530 mm deep, overall height 1200 mm; the shell is 480 mm wide and 450 mm deep. Front edge of the seat: 820 mm, no cushion. Finishes: 01 chrome, 30 basic dark (smooth powder coat).
Story
A taller seat for the wire shell
In the stools the Eames wire shell is carried by a four-legged base with a footrest. Vitra places the Wire Stool High in the Wire Chair family and dates it to 1951.
What the page lists
