Overview
Softwall, designed by Piero Lissoni in 2006, rethinks Wall: sizes and volumes of the original design stay, corners are rounded off and the mood is softened. The result is an elegant presence that suggests warmth and familiarity. It is made as a fixed or modular sofa.
Construction
The frame is painted steel with a spring system of crosswise-woven, rubber-coated elastic straps and a felt panel that protects the seat cushion. Armrests and backrests have a steel frame sprung with rubber elastic straps, set in a cold-foamed flexible polyurethane structure. A mattress pad filled with pre-washed, sterilised goose down, stitched into compartments, covers them; only the backrest has a polyurethane foam insert. Seat cushions are polyurethane foam of differentiated density on a preformed structure, under a quilted goose-down mattress pad. Black anodised aluminium feet can be set at three heights from 7 to 10 cm, and glossy chrome-plated steel brackets 12 cm high are available on request. Upholstery in fabric or leather comes off entirely, held by zippers and Velcro.
Specifications
Feet are black anodised aluminium in three height positions, 7 to 10 cm.
Story
Soft corners on the Wall volumes
Softwall keeps the sizes and volumes of the original Wall, rounds off its corners and softens the mood. The seat cushions are quilted over goose down, and the range includes armchairs, sofas, terminal, central and corner elements, long seats and footrests.
Feet and brackets
Black anodised aluminium feet offer three height positions, from 7 to 10 cm. Chrome-plated brackets of 12 cm are the alternative base; sofas and armchairs take two, while compositions take one terminal base and one connecting base. Modular elements are joined by the hooks that come with the product.
