Softwall Bed

Overview

Piero Lissoni designed the Softwall bed for Living Divani in 2007. Its surface is a large clear plane that suggests the flat calm of the sea, and a soft perimeter completely surrounds the sleeping space and turns it into an island.

Construction

Double-paneled poplar and pine form the structure of the headboard and bedstead. Polyurethane foam pads the bedstead, while the headboard has polyurethane foam of differing densities, finished with a goose-down mat (prewashed, sterilized, stitched into separate compartments) or acrylic fibre layers. The covering is nonwoven polyester fibre, needle-punched and resinated, on a polyamide velveteen backing. A metal frame in black epoxy powder lacquer holds the bed assembly and the slat base. The feet are aluminium, Ø40 mm and 8 cm high, lacquered black with epoxy powder, with plastic tips at the floor. Two zippers attach the 100% cotton slat base cover to the bedstead upholstery.

Overall height: 68 cm. Feet: black painting, RAL 9017. Upholstery in fabric or leather, detachable throughout with Velcro fastenings.
