Ren Dressing Table

Overview

The Ren Dressing Table is a wood-framed table by Neri&Hu, from 2016. It combines a rotatable round mirror, an oval storage tray and a top covered in leather or hide, with a second tray inset in the top.

Construction

• Structure: solid wood, made of two shaped sides and three crosspieces, with plastic caps at the feet
• Mirror: round, Ø 430 mm, in a brass frame covered in leather, backed with birch plywood in walnut veneer, and it can be turned through 18°
• Oval tray: birch plywood base with a brass frame lined in leather, attached to the upper crosspiece with a brushed steel hook in a natural brass finish
• Top: birch plywood covered in leather, with a lift-up compartment and a ring-shaped brass handle
• Metal details: brass ovals inside and brass rings outside where the upper crosspiece meets the sides

Entryway research

Neri&Hu began the Ren complementary furniture from the entryway of the home, where guests are welcomed and a first sign of personal style appears. The dressing table follows the series idea of hybrid objects, refined in manufacture and shape.

Leather, wood and brass

The wooden sides carry the profile of the Chinese ideogram ren, meaning person. Between them a leather-covered top with a second tray built in, a turning mirror and a brass-framed tray complete the piece.
