Description
Overview
Poul Kjærholm designed the PK31™ in 1958. The product page describes the PK31 chair and sofa series as a prime example of Kjærholm's ability to work with exquisite materials and minimalism, a fusion of elegance, luxury and comfort created in the search for the ideal form. The series is available as an armchair and as a 2- or 3-seater sofa.
Construction
- Frame: matt chromed spring steel; the fact sheet adds black leg ferrules
- Upholstery: leather; according to the fact sheet the cushions consist of loose down
- Additional units/seats can be added to the standard configurations (fact sheet)
Specifications
- H 76 × W 76 × D 76 cm
- Seat height 38 cm, armrest height 48 cm
Story
A cube of 76 centimetres
The fact sheet presents the PK31 lounge chair and sofa series as furniture that can be fitted to a room while remaining a single piece in its own right. It calls the PK31 a self-contained freestanding object and a realisation of Kjærholm's quest to find an ideal form, which the chair confirms by defining a cube of 76 cm on a side, with the seat height at the midpoint.
