Construction

The sheet describes piping in all stitches. Its legs are fixed, of solid wood and set into the timber inner frame; jute and rubber-band webbing carries the seat. The frame cover stays on, while the loose seat, back and arm cushions each have a removable cover. Fillings are a foam core with down wrap, or a blend of foam and down kept in separate chambers.

Story

Made for Mogensen's own home

The 2213 page opens with "Born from a desire to create the ultimate sofa" and says Børge Mogensen designed the first 2213 for his own home in 1962. It calls the sofa probably the most iconic in mid-century Danish design, found in embassies, corporate headquarters, private residences, galleries and museums.

Made at the upholstery workshop

In its product impact section Fredericia names its upholstery workshop in Denmark as the manufacturing site of this product. Another module of the page describes the furniture as solid wood that develops a patina over time.
