Description

Overview

The Mogensen 2209 Sofa (Model 2209, 3 seater, 186 cm) was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1963 according to Fredericia's sheet. On the page drawing it is 186 cm wide, 82 cm deep and 84 cm high, with a 43 cm seat; the sheet lists 45 kg.

Construction

Every stitch is piped, and either leather or fabric can be chosen. The wooden inner frame takes the fixed solid wood legs, and jute and rubber-band webbing lies under the seat. Here the sheet names only seat and back cushions (no arm cushions); their covers lift off, whereas the frame cover does not. Cushion choices: foam core under a down wrap, or separate chambers holding a foam-and-down mixture.

Specifications

  • Covers: 125 fabrics, 21 leather colours
  • Wood: four oak options and oiled walnut
  • Consumption: 10 m fabric or 16.26 m² leather
  • Weight: 45 kg

Story

Made at the upholstery workshop

The impact module of the page locates this sofa's manufacture at Fredericia's own upholstery workshop in Denmark, and a solid wood module says the wood gets a patina if kept well.
