Story
From a piece of foam to a lounge chair
A competition held by the rubber foam manufacturer Dunlop inspired Gijs Bakker, according to the product text; he bent a piece of foam to a 90 degree angle and fixed it in a metal frame. That became the GB Lounge, which the text calls a modular lounge chair with invitingly overstuffed upholstery.
The Levi's Chair
The page adds that it was originally coined the Levi's Chair, meant like a pair of well-loved jeans to act as an easygoing antidote to the stiffer tastes of the previous generation. Feet that raise it slightly from the floor were added later.
