Overview
AB Dining is a table in the Karakter x Cassina programme, credited on Cassina's page to Aldo Bakker, 2026. It was born as a reinterpretation of the 2017 AB Console and gives rise to a new design. The text calls it a piece of silent architecture that sits between furniture and sculpture.
Construction
- Top: wood, with a rounded underside.
- Legs: a pair of elliptical legs in rigid polyurethane.
- Finish: matt lacquer, finished entirely by hand, with hidden fastenings.
- Sizes: 250 x 110 cm and 300 x 110 cm, up to 12 diners.
Specifications
- 2500 x 1100 x 740 mm (250 x 110 cm model).
Story
Between furniture and sculpture
Cassina's text describes AB Dining as a table defined by refined details and formal purity, where curved and flat surfaces meet in a monolithic shape. Monochromatic finishes bring out the play of light and shadow across its faces.
Made by hand in matt lacquer
The matt lacquer surfaces are finished entirely by hand through a complex process, which yields a uniform, velvety colour. Joint lines are imperceptible and all fastenings stay hidden.
