Installation
The seats connect in a continuous row. Their cylindrical bases have an epoxy-powder coating formulated to resist scratches and impacts.
Story
Made for a concert hall
Gehry Partners created this chair for Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The commission ties the seat directly to an architectural auditorium rather than adapting a domestic chair for contract use.
A coordinated row
Its construction combines timber seating parts with stainless-steel sides, curved-plywood armrests and floor-mounted cylindrical supports. An automatic return mechanism lifts the seat, while nylon joints reduce operational noise inside the performance venue.
