Overview
Piero Lissoni designed Extra Wall in 2002. Living Divani says it astonishes with its many combination and covering possibilities, which make it hugely adaptable and versatile, able to show its endless faces with elegance and refinement.
Construction
The indoor version has a frame in double-panelled poplar and pine, with cross-woven coated rubber elastic straps as suspension and differentiated-density polyurethane foam padding. The cover is needle-treated polyester fibre with a resin finish on a polyamide velveteen backing. Upholstery is fabric or leather; only the fabric version is fully removable, with Velcro fastenings. Leather elements have perimeter seams and non-removable upholstery. Adjustable plastic feet carry the elements, which are joined together by hooks.
Specifications
The technical drawings show separate bases, armrests and backrests. A representative 120 x 120 cm base is drawn at 120, 120 and 32 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing). Seat depths run through 68, 94, 120, 134 and 146 cm.
Story
Bases, armrests and backrests
The drawing sheet splits the system into three families of units. Bases are drawn from 68 to 146 cm, with 32 beside the side views and 43 for the 146 cm base. Armrests carry 43 and 51 and run from 94 to 172 cm. Backrests carry 60 and 51 with the same range of sizes. Loose cushions come in four sizes up to 90 x 90 cm (axes are not labelled on the drawing).
Outdoor construction and height options
The outdoor version uses lacquered steel for the bases and lacquered steel with outdoor plywood for backrests and armrests, with stainless steel hooks on the base suspension. The sheet also allows every element to be made 5 to 10 cm taller than the standard height.
