Extra Wall Bed

Overview

Piero Lissoni drew up the Extra Wall bed in 2004 for Living Divani. Neat lines emphasise its shape and volumes, and a modular headboard and frame let elements of different size be combined into the composition wanted.

Construction

Double-paneled poplar and pine form the headboard and bedstead, with a padding of differentiated density polyurethane foam. Over it sits a skin of needle punched, resinated, nonwoven polyester fibre that carries a bonded polyamide velveteen backing. A metal frame joins the bed together and supports the slat base; it is lacquered with black epoxy powder coating. Adjustable plastic feet carry the bed. The upholstery can be fabric or leather, and complete removal by undoing Velcro fastenings is a trait of the fabric version alone.

Poplar, pine and foam

Behind the covering, the headboard and bedstead are double-paneled poplar and pine with polyurethane foam of differentiated density. A black epoxy powder coated metal frame joins the bed and supports the slat base, which has a 100% cotton cover in ecrù.
