Overview
Castore Table is a glass and marble dining table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1975 for Sorgente dei Mobili and now presented by Karakter. Cassina's page describes its distinctive design and visual lightness, with a marble pillar and bowl that complement the tempered glass top.
Construction
- Top: round, tempered glass.
- Pillar: heavy marble, with rounded corners.
- Bowl: a small marble bowl sits on the glass; it can be removed and used as an individual element.
Specifications
- Ø 1300 x 715 mm (130 cm dining table, 715 mm to the glass).
Story
A top held down by a small bowl
Mangiarotti wants the table to look as if only a small marble bowl on top of the glass plate holds it in place, while the round glass top rests on a heavy marble pillar. Rounded corners on the pillar and the bowl soften the weight of the marble.
Designed in 1975, presented by Karakter
Cassina's text gives 1975 as the year of the design, made for Sorgente dei Mobili, and names Karakter as the brand now presenting it.
