Biography

Background

Michel Ducaroy was born into a family of industrialists and designers of contemporary furniture and trained at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. He joined the Roset company very early on, at a time of rapid growth, where he had access to insightful marketing and a highly capable technical team, and was responsible for the research, development and design submissions behind the company's brands.

Signature Style

With the arrival in the 1960s and 1970s of new materials such as foams, quilting and thermoformed plastics, Ducaroy designed a large number of pieces for the domestic market. His best-known work is a frameless "seat-cushion" made entirely of foam with quilted covers.

Notable Works
