Biography
Background
Luca Nichetto was born in 1976 in Venice and grew up in Venice and Murano, in a family where glass was part of everyday life. He graduated in industrial design from the University Institute of Architecture of Venice (IUAV) in 1998, worked with Salviati and later as a product designer and consultant for Foscarini, and in 2006 opened his own studio in his home city. After moving to Stockholm in 2011 he started a second studio there; today his creative house, NICHETTO, works between Venice and Stockholm.
Signature Style
&Tradition describes his portfolio as natural exuberance and playful expression, recalling the Murano glass-making industry that shaped his early years, together with the Swedish spirit of modernity and sustainability. He works with designers from around the world and likes collaboration: "I think the future is in sharing".
Notable Works
His clients include Ginori 1735, Hermès, Foscarini, Cassina, Steinway & Sons, Barovier & Toso, Svenskt Tenn and &Tradition. For &Tradition he designed Cloud (2015), Lato (2018), Tabata (2022), Sett (2024), Gio (2025) and Muno (2025).
Legacy
His own studio says that the practice has been active for more than 25 years and that his works belong to permanent museum collections. In 2021 he curated the exhibition Emphatic: Discovering a Glass Legacy at the Punta Conterie Gallery in Murano.
