Collection Story
Origin
Cloud launched in 2015 as the first collaboration between &Tradition and Luca Nichetto. The 2015 press release lists a one-, two- and three-seat sofa and a pouf, and a release of 2017 added high back versions of the sofa, LN6 and LN7. The product pages give the model names: LN1 is the lounge chair, LN2 the 2-seater sofa, LN3.2 the 3-seater sofa, LN5 a lounge chair and LN6 the high back 2-seater sofa. The designer page of &Tradition adds LN7 as the high back 3-seater sofa, and the Cloud Collection heading on the LN2 page lists LN2, LN3.2, LN5, LN6 and LN7.
Design Language
In the 2015 release Nichetto says that his aim was to combine the Italian and Danish traditions of making sofas: "Cloud has the defined shape of the Danish design tradition and the soft and cosy pillows of the Italian one." The pieces pair a weight-bearing structure with cushions and pillows, and the release describes a plywood back and armrest structure covered in foam on a base of solid wood and steel, with steel legs coloured to match the fabrics.
