Christian Werner was born in 1959 in West Berlin and studied industrial design in Berlin and Hamburg. According to Thonet's designer page he graduated in 1986, worked first as a full-time designer and has worked as a freelancer since 1992.
Signature Style
Alongside furniture for various European manufacturers, Werner realises interior design projects such as advertising agencies, apartments, stores and trade fair presentations. Thonet says that in both his spatial concepts and his furniture he looks for "the suspense in simplicity", and that a reserved overall picture, balanced proportions and sophisticated details mark his work. For him, design is a question of attitude that rests mainly on gut feeling, an expression of emotions through form and material.
Notable Works
Thonet's designer page lists three pieces of his for the brand: the 2001 bentwood armchair, the 2002/C002 bentwood sofa and the 2002 H ottoman. Thonet presents them together as the range 2000, which its product page dates 2015.
