A collar-like outdoor family

Lapel is an outdoor seating and table collection by Busetti Garuti Redaelli for Ligne Roset. Its English name refers to the folded edge of a jacket collar or the top of a boot. The family translates that idea into a raised woven border that curves around each seat. The French product page explains that the complex weaving is made in Indonesia and must be kept taut and regular.

Shared construction

Across the chair, carver chair, armchair and two bar-chair heights, aluminium receives a carbon-coloured lacquer. Curved back panels are woven from high-density polyethylene resin. The dining chair and bar chairs use 36 kg/m³ polyurethane seat pads, while the armchair and carver chair use 24 kg/m³ foam. Beige polyester upholstery and polyester liners complete the outdoor cushions. Ligne Roset recommends sheltering the cushions during winter so they do not absorb moisture.

Seating types

The family ranges from a 620 mm-wide dining chair to an 890 mm-wide lounge armchair. A low bar chair has a 695 mm seat height and 870 mm overall height; the high version rises to 980 mm overall. The small settee extends the woven surround across two places.

Outdoor dining setting

Lapel also includes a dining table, allowing the seating types to form one coordinated outdoor arrangement. The carbon-coloured aluminium, synthetic weave and beige upholstery establish the shared material palette across the chairs.
