Collection Story

Origin

Archibald is the seating family that Jean-Marie Massaud designed for Poltrona Frau. The company timeline lists it under 2009 as "a new modern icon", an armchair with an elegant, enveloping design that was loved at once for its sculptural shape and its invitation to relax. In 2022 the 110th-anniversary edition by the artist Felipe Pantone opened a series of limited editions.

Design Language

Poltrona Frau describes the collection as a comfortable, enveloping design in which the breadth and depth of the seat are balanced by thin feet. Later members keep the idea in other forms: the soft Gran Comfort, the dining chairs, a modular sofa system and special editions that change only the cover.
