Description
Overview
Sophia is a lamp designed by Studiopepe for Tacchini in 2022. In a balance of elegance and simplicity, it accentuates the essential beauty of light by encasing it in a small luminous sphere that recalls a pearl in its shell.
Construction
The finish is engobed semi-refractory ceramic with the turning process by hand. Ceramic and opaline glass are combined. The lamp takes a dimmable G9 LED bulb (3000 K, 5 W, 450 lumen) and has a two-pin plug. A strong handmade component means pieces can differ from one another.
Specifications
Code 0SPH01 measures 30 x 38 x 50 cm (W x D x H).
Story
A sphere of light
A sphere of light dazzles with absolute purity in Sophia, a sculptural lamp inspired by the form of a shell's inner curvature. The lamp sets elegance and simplicity in balance and accentuates the essential beauty of light.
Ceramic and opaline glass
The dialogue between ceramics and opaline glass enhances the delicate material combination. It follows Studiopepe's ongoing material exploration, where materials are the essential means to emphasise form.
