Sheru Chair

Overview

Sheru Chair is a breathable upholstered shell chair by EOOS for Walter Knoll. It comes with solid wood, pipe-leg, 4-star swivel or 5-star swivel bases, in a casual or formal upholstery look, and the covers are removable.

Construction

The plastic shell has openings in the seat and back, with bands arranged in them in the shape of palm leaves, which the press text says give a springy feel and ventilation. In the casual look a padded covering sits over the moulded foam, and the formal look uses foam padding. The swivel bases are aluminium with a pneumatic spring.

Rethinking the bucket seat

Walter Knoll's design story says the team joined forces with EOOS to rethink the technology of a bucket seat. The aim was a minimalist upholstered chair that reduces the use of materials and offers a new level of comfort.

An update with new bases

The press text announces an update with a four-star base, optionally with an auto-return mechanism, and a five-star base with castors and optional height adjustment. The cover is held to the bucket with clips, zipper and Velcro tape, and the parts can be sorted by type once the chair reaches the end of its life.
