Overview
The Samay Armchair is a wooden armchair by EOOS for Walter Knoll, designed in 2026. Soft, clean-lined wooden forms are combined with upholstered cushions, and the armrests and backrest curve around the upholstery.
Construction
The armrests extend forwards from a curved piece of bentwood in a paddle-like shape. Delicate metal struts connect the legs and support the cushion base, and a technological membrane fabric heat-shrunk onto the metal frame acts as both spring system and support for the seat cushion.
Specifications
- Wood finish: hard wax seal on oak and walnut, special varnish on ash
- Cushions: multi-layered seat and back cushions with folded corners and three-stitch decorative seams
Story
A classic category with lightness
A wooden armchair is a classic category, and the Samay Armchair gives it fresh air. It looks light and soft at first glance, and the combination of clean-lined wooden forms with upholstered cushions creates soothing harmony and warmth.
Paddle-shaped armrests
On the Samay the armrests and backrest curve around the upholstery, and the armrests extend forwards from the curved wood in a paddle-like shape. EOOS replaced traditional crossbars with a slender metal frame, which gives the armchair a light and floating appearance.
