Story

An icon with slim legs

Fritz Hansen's page describes the Series 7 as timeless and incredibly versatile, displaying character without overpowering the eye. For the 3107 it points to slim yet strong steel-tubed legs that complement the shell's curved profile and extend just beyond the edge of the seat, so that chairs can be arranged in rows or stacked for storage.

A variation on the Ant

Wikipedia calls the Model 3107 a variation on the Ant chair and says that, according to Jacobsen, both chairs were inspired by a chair by Charles and Ray Eames made with plywood bending techniques. The same article reports that over five million units have been produced, exclusively by Fritz Hansen.
