Description

Overview

Designed by Piero Lissoni in 2023, the Nooch armchair belongs to a modular outdoor seating system named after Thailand's Nong Nooch tropical botanical garden.

Construction

The frame combines die-cast aluminium and extrusions. Back and seat upholstery use shaped polyurethane and biodegradable polyester fibre recycled from PET, protected by water-repellent polyester fibre. The bent elbow junction is the chair's identifying structural detail.

Dimensions

The representative NH95 armchair measures 950 × 950 × 650 mm. Its drawing separately labels a 430 mm seat height.

Story

An elementary structure refined

Nooch follows B&B Italia and Piero Lissoni's earlier outdoor research with Borea. The manufacturer describes a return to simple tubular construction, refined through close attention to the junctions. An elbow-like bend where the aluminium members meet becomes the system's identifying detail.

Materials considered as layers

The official text emphasizes that the cushioning components can be separated. Two polyurethane layers differ in density and firmness: one reuses production waste, while the other is virgin bio-polyurethane; recycled PET forms the surrounding sheath.
