Description

Overview

Piero Lissoni designed Metro² for Living Divani in 1999. The sofa is original and elegant, aimed at those keen on socialising and brilliant conversation, and comes fixed or as modular elements.

Construction

The structure is poplar wood and fir blockboard with aluminium supports carrying suspensions on polypropylene slats with a fibreglass core (GOODSIDE®). Padding is bio-based polyurethane plus polyurethane foam of differentiated density, wrapped in polyester fibre that has been needle-treated and resin-finished, with a polyamide velveteen backing bonded to it. The steel base carries a burnished epoxy polyester powder finish and stands on black plastic tips. Covers come in fabric or leather, and the fabric ones alone come off entirely, with zips and Velcro.

Specifications

The base is steel with a burnished epoxy polyester powder finish.

Story

Modular elements and hooks

Metro² is made as sofas and as terminal, corner, central and further elements, joined with special hooks supplied for assembly. Elements with a central backrest cannot be combined with elements with a lateral backrest, and a general sketch is requested for compositions that mix different elements.

Leather and fabric versions

Elements with leather upholstery have fixed armrests and backrests, so their covers are not removable. A central stitching is part of the 160 x 160 cm elements; patterned, floral, woven or velvet fabrics and leather always call for a central seam on the side.
