Description

Overview

Among the three Lobby Chairs, the ES 105 is the inviting visitor chair, the one with the extra-wide seat and the low base. Vitra credits Charles and Ray Eames, dates it 1960 and describes the group's cushions as luxuriously padded and covered in leather. The factbook files the model as a lounge chair.

Construction

Frames and foot are aluminium: die-cast, chrome-plated side frames and a chrome-plated die-cast four-star base. The seat is fixed in height and swivels. Cushions are made of the recyclable polyurethane 'V-Foam' under leather, and the armrests are leather-upholstered.

Specifications

750 mm wide, 745 mm deep and 780 mm high. There are 16 Leather colours and 22 in Leather Premium F, and side frames and base are 01 chrome.

Story

The wide, low model

Vitra's page for the ES 105 describes a chair meant to be inviting. Its seat is extra wide and its base low, in contrast to the swivel office model with its adjustable height. The date given is 1960.

In the group

Like its two siblings, the ES 105 is built from three cushions joined by side frames of aluminium. Vitra says all three models give supreme comfort through their padded leather cushions, and that the leather covers can be had in many colours.
