Specifying Life Chair for your design project?

INTEBEE is the FF&E specification platform for interior designers: spec sheets, finishes, floor plans and client-ready PDFs in one place.

Description

Overview

The Life Chair was designed with Formway and introduced in 2002. Its synchronized recline uses body weight as a counterbalance, while the seat pan flexes forward and adjusts four inches in depth.

Back and frame

An elastomeric knit suspension works with the flexible frame to support the pelvis, lumbar area and shoulders.

Dimensions

The representative high-performance-arm chair is 26.5 in W × 24.5 in D × 45 in H at maximum adjustment.

Knoll lists lower and higher cylinders as alternatives to this representative.

Story

Environmental rethinking

Knoll describes Life’s 2002 introduction as a new stage in its approach to environmental responsibility. Formway considered not only material selection but also the quantity of material and whether parts could be separated, removed and updated.

Ergonomics through response

The chair combines auto-balanced recline, a forward-flexing seat pan and a suspended knit back so that support changes with reclined, upright and perched positions.
