Description
Overview
Generation by Knoll is Formway’s ergonomic task chair, introduced in 2009. Its frameless Flex Back and Flex Seat support movement beyond a forward-facing posture.
Dynamic structure
The back combines an elastomeric net with a figure-eight structure. Dynamic Suspension supplies weight-compensated synchronized recline, while the seat edge flexes through 270 degrees.
Dimensions
The chair measures 28.5 in W × 26 in D, excluding the base, with a maximum overall height of 44.5 in.
Low and high cylinders are offered beyond the standard configuration shown here.
Story
Rethinking how a task chair moves
Knoll and Formway introduced Generation in 2009 as a chair that supports movement instead of prescribing one seated position. The flexible back, seat edge and fold-over top allow the sitter to turn, recline or sit sideways while retaining support.
Integrated response
Rather than isolating movement in one control, Generation connects the net back, figure-eight frame, continuous lumbar area and weight-compensated suspension.
